Locations
We have many locations around the United States that could accommodate you and your project needs when it comes to ecology blocks. Feel free to get in touch with us to get all the information you need about which location would work best for you! You can either pick the blocks up from our manufacturing locations, or you can have them delivered to your location for a delivery fee.
Common Names
There are so many names for ecology blocks. You can also call them bin blocks, mafia blocks, or barrier blocks. Other names for these types of blocks include concrete blocks, interlocking concrete blocks and more. Bin blocks are also referred to as gravity blocks when used in building retainer walls; the reason is because the weight in the blocks (gravity) to hold back the weight of the soil. Another name for bin blocks is waste blocks because they are literally made of “wasted” recycled concrete. Don’t be surprised if you hear people referring to bin boxes with any one of these names! They all describe the same thing and the same function.
Cost
One of the major benefits of using ecology blocks is that they are so incredibly inexpensive. This is because they use recycled concrete and the shape is very simple. It is fairly easy to make and that’s why it costs so little. Usually you can get bin blocks for less than $200 each. This is a fantastic savings! Other types of block alternatives depend on the project that you’re building. If you’re building a retaining wall, there are other ways to build a retaining wall that do not involve blocks. The alternative ways would involve casting cement pads. It is way more costly to use the cement pads to use concrete blocks.
Even in another scenario, if you are using blocks to direct traffic, using bin blocks is way cheaper than Jersey barriers, which typically run about six hundred to eight hundred dollars each! That is compared to the bin blocks that run less than two hundred dollars each! This is what makes the concrete bin blocks way cheaper than the alternatives.
Another thing to note is that bin blocks are incredibly versatile. You can use the blocks many years and for many purposes after your initial project is over. For example, maybe you do not need the parking lot set up in a certain way, so you can reassemble the blocks to use in another project, such as in a retaining wall or as a barrier for utilities or fuel tanks. You can reuse these blocks again and again for different projects. They have multiple uses for many years! Save money and time!
Alternatives
If you are building a retaining wall, there are several different alternatives that you could use instead of using ecology blocks or bin blocks; you could use concrete panels. You could use modular retaining walls. You could even use gabion baskets; gabion baskets are basically small, open stone walls with wires that retain all the stones. There are pros and cons to using each one of these methods and these types of retaining walls, but people often find that the cheapest and easiest way to build retaining walls is to use bin blocks.
In a different capacity, if you are using blocks to direct traffic, there are also other alternatives to this as well. You could also use highway barriers, also known as jersey barriers. These barriers are thinner and about waist high, which is completely different from the big, rectangular shape of the bin blocks. However, the downside to jersey barriers is that they are typically much more expensive than the bin blocks. All in all, the bin blocks are the winners for the cheapest and easiest barriers to use for the most variety of needs.
Environmental Benefits
Another interesting element about being a block is that they are environmentally friendly. Ecology blocks are made from recycled concrete, so it is a huge savings and is also a very environmentally friendly initiative. The more we can do for our environment and our planet, the better. You can save money and at the same time also save the planet from unnecessary waste. In addition to that, because you will be using recycled concrete, you are not making new concrete to use. There is saving in that as well. It is a no brainer!
Installation
We would love to get in touch with you about delivery and installation. What we normally do is we have a semi truck full of blocks that we deliver to your location or job site. Please keep in mind that you will need to provide the heavy equipment to unload the ecology blocks yourself; we do not provide that service for you.
Another thing that you will need to plan is to make sure that the location where we are delivering the bin blocks needs to be a place that can accommodate and fit a semi truck. If for some reason the location does not work, then we will need to meet at a location a few miles away. You will need to be ready to unload the bin blocks from the semi truck onto a smaller vehicle that can access your property.
If neither of those plans works for you, another thing that you could do is pick up the blocks directly from the manufacturing plant. Whatever works most convenient for you works for us!
